Reading is important!
The NEA (National Education Association) states the following about children who read:
- Children who are read to at home have a higher success rate in school.
- Children who read frequently develop stronger reading (and speaking) skills.
- Students who do more reading at home are better readers and have higher math scores.
Why read out loud?
Who has the time to sit and read?
We don't always have the luxury of 10-20 minutes to sit down with a book and read to our children. But, we may have 10-20 minutes when we are all in the car together or 10-20 minutes while simple household chores are taking place. That is where Overdrive and your local library can save the day!
