Happy Friday! Today is the last day for PARCC Progress Based Assessments for the 3rd and 4th graders. Specials schedules this week were altered so teachers could assist with testing. After Spring Break it should be back to business as usual, but in the mean time, be checking the student work gallery to view the students projects that are completed! More work will be added as students finish in the coming weeks. Tomorrow...SPRING BREAK begins! Have a wonderful break. Relax. Read a book...or 2...or 10. Enjoy your week, and I look forward to seeing everyone back on March 30th! **Attention Parents** I will be the Parent Involvement Coordinator for the 2015-2016 school year! I am very excited to work with you and plan ways for parents to be involved in education. I will be looking for some parent volunteers to serve on committees next year. There will be a short and sweet meeting on April 13th at 5:00pm to explain the committees and sign up volunteers. Serving on the committees is a way for you share your opinion, so mark April 13th on your calendar and plan on making your voice heard! (The meeting will be over in time for you to attend the monthly PTO meeting.)

Readers across America are reminded today to pick up a book and read, thanks to Dr. Seuss! Celebrate today, this week, and everyday by reading a book to your child! The book fair is officially closed at the school. Despite the weather, the book fair did extremely well! A total of 520 books were sold, exceeding my goal of 500 books. I greatly appreciate your support in providing quality literature to our students at Greenland Elementary! Mark March 10th on your calendar! Greenland Elementary will be having it's annual Literacy Night! The event begins at 5:30 with a parent meeting in the cafeteria. Several teachers will present information on ways you can support and encourage literacy at home. Students will be dismissed to their grade level classrooms to participate in a Dr. Seuss book activity. After the meeting, everyone will come together for refreshments. Please make plans to attend and support your child!
The Scholastic Book Fair is here! Due to the weather, Scholastic has offered to extend the fair until Friday, February 27th! This Book Fair in particular has discounted books aplenty and many great new titles to choose from. I am most excited about Charlie and the New Baby (Grades K-2), Ranger in Time (Grades 2-4, waiting to be restocked), and Duke (Grades 3+). If shopping online is easier for you, the online Book Fair lasts until March 3rd! The online Book Fair has many more books to choose from and hundreds of books for less than $5. All proceeds will still benefit the library, and all orders will be shipped for FREE directly to the school. Click on the button below to begin shopping online!
