Task
Yarr mateys! Thar be Pirates in them there waters! What does it take to be named a Pirate? How does one become a famous pirate? You and your classmates are going to find out!
Process
Today, each table will be given 2 different questions to try to answer about the Pirates you are going to research. You will use the links below to discover information about these Pirates. Assign each person in your group a different website to search to locate information about your topic.
Questions
- What other name(s) did your pirate have? What happened to your pirate?
- What nationality was your pirate? Discuss two-three different situations or things your pirate is famous for
- Why did this person become a pirate? What was the Code of Conduct for your pirate?
- Where did your pirate pursue his or her adventures? Does your pirate have any famous quotes or sayings?
- Whom did your pirate associate with? Where and when was your pirate born? When and how did your pirate die?
Compile
Compare your findings with what your group found. Together, write 2 sentences per person about what you discovered. Try to give as much information as possible in your sentences.
Next week we will take our sentences and record a video about your pirate. The videos will be compiled and played for Literacy Night.
